The camera fades up from a black screen to view Blake Anderson leaning over a table pointing at someone. Now to explain that, you’d have to have watched Anarchy and for those of you that didn’t, here’s a little spoiler for you. What happened was that both Blake and Belladonna Anderson had debut matches and well…
A double debut win (see that? That’s what you missed) on Anarchy in North Carolina for The Anderson’s and no I’m not talking about Brock, Arn, Ole or any other person with that last name. Maybe it was confusing to some to see Belladonna come out with her husband and Paul Sinclair, but she didn’t come out with them during his match. That was one of the chatterings happening in close proximity to where Blake was sitting. He quickly got angered during a post-match press conference or as you like to call them, “media scrub” meetings. Sitting at a table alongside his wife Belladonna Anderson, Paul Sinclair and OCW owner Britlyn Baylor who’s smiling for the cameras, Blake overhears a non-mic’d reporter speaking among others.
Belladonna was talking about her debut when something kept getting Blake’s attention out the corner of his eye so he turned to see what was happening. He overheard someone talking and soon with a quick pound of his fist on the table, he stood up interrupting whoever was speaking but let’s go right before that.
[B.Anderson] “Obviously you’re single or you wouldn’t ask that question but it’s simple. I had an early match and Bella had a later match so I wasn’t going to let her go out there and then be tired or if she was to get injured before her match and then have to fight injured. Just like you, that question was stupid. So there ya go. Now does anyone have an actual legitimate question”?
[Press] “Some would say that your debut was a little lackluster, what do you say on that”?
Blake quickly stands up and points at the man who asked the question.
[B.Anderson] “You call that lackluster? When you’ve been doing this as long as I have, then you can say if the match was good or not. What did it lack for you? Oh, it wasn't a 5-star Meltzer right? How about you try traveling three-hundred days a year performing in front of people who try to attack you because they don’t like your character? I'm sorry but that’s my job and my job is to be a Heel because that’s who I am. If you don’t like it, I don’t really care because it’s not my job to make you happy. You pay to see me win or lose. In the end, guess what, I won because I got your money so who’s lackluster now? Now sit down”.
So yeah, that happened and now we move to the next live Anarchy in Baltimore, Maryland. Not feeling like he had a good debut, this show is Blake’s re-debut against the Latin submission machine. No he’s not going to the Dominican Republic and do a big promo in front of one of their government buildings, he’ll leave that to Jason Aldean but no, Blake is approached by a cameraman at an ATM at the CFG Bank Arena.
Now Blake is on the phone via Bluetooth with Paul Sinclair as he’s withdrawing money from an ATM. He turns around with money in his hand to see the cameraman standing there.
[B.Anderson] “Whoa, don’t sneak up on me like that”.
On the other end of the phone, Paul says something to Blake and he responds.
[B.Anderson] “No Paul, everything is okay. It’s just the cameraman here for me to talk about my next match. What? Okay, I’ll tell him”. (He looks at the cameraman). Paul says not to say anything with my lawyer present but you can record this part. (He laughs as the cameraman records). What I can tell you is that I can’t wait to finally be in the ring with someone I respect. Hanari, I look forward to our match”.
Blake turns to walk away when his phone rings and it’s Bella.
[B.Anderson] “Yeah, I’ll be right there. I had to get money to pay the guy. The app on my phone isn’t working. (He looks at the cameraman). I gotta go, catch ya later”.
He walks off as the camera cuts off.
[Location: Locker Room]
There’s still some time before the night’s show begins so the trio of Sinclair, Blake and Belladonna sit back and relax but someone (Sinclair) gets the umption to do a promo. What is it with this man and talking? Anyway, he convinces them to go to the Anarchy promo area or interview area I guess, and do it the right way and talk to the camera. So they get there and who’s standing by catering drinking coffee? Yep, it’s Paul. So what is he to do? Oh yes, join them and here’s how that went.
[Location: Interview Area]
As the camera records, Paul is smirking as he begins to speak.
[Sinclair] “My fellow Anarchists, tonight, you will witness one of the most grandiose matches this company has ever seen. A man who has traveled the world making women swoon over him and men fantasize on being him against a man who just simply wanted better competition. Now I’m not saying that Hanari isn’t good. I mean I’d be scared of this guy too. Have you seen this guy on YouTube? I mean him hiring someone to only highlight the good part of his matches which when you think of it, a Mexican hiring a Mexican is something you don’t see everyday.
I know, I know, we’re in a time now where I can’t say things like that because someone would get butt hurt because I talked about someone’s race but you know what? This is the real world so you get to deal with it here just like you would out there. But Hanari, don’t think we don’t respect you because we do. Don’t think we don’t know what you can do because we’ve seen it and once upon a time, Blake has felt it.
If I wanted to be scared I’d go watch more of Hanari Carnes’ matches on YouTube. Have you seen this guy? I know I have a match with him later but this guy says he’s the best submission fighter in the world. I mean, how can I compete with that? Oh yeah (he laughs) it’s because he’s a submission fighter to where I’m an actual fighter. (He looks fiercely into the camera). See, let me tell you something Hanari, you say you’re one of the best if not the best submission fighters but what that really tells me is that you’re a tramposo (translated: cheater). I can say that because what is a submission? It’s a move that you have to use because you can’t beat anyone without brute force by knocking anyone out but taking the low road to basically suffocate them or pick a body part to work on and injure enough so that person had enough.
Now again don’t get me wrong, Hanari, you’re good but you put yourself on a pedestal and well, hate to say it but someone’s going to knock you off it but not just knock you off it but knock you out and when is that? That will be tonight my friend courtesy of Blake Anderson. So by all means, go ahead and play to the crowd and get your fix from the ovation from the crowd or whatever it is that their cheers and even boos give you, because that feeling won’t last long. That feeling won't save you from the beating you’re going to receive. That feeling will be the same feeling that you give others as you say your sole purpose is to hurt people? Well now it’s time for you to feel that same hurt.
Maybe this would be the time where that entertainment place would start playing “Hurt” by Johnny Cash which would seem appropriate to maybe have a vignette play and highlight certain things which you would like, you know, the highlight thing or are you more of a crayon person? Maybe you color outside the lines or maybe because you’re this submission fighter and not a specialist which you should be but you’re not calling yourself that so that makes you not, when you step in the ring with a man who calls himself a fighter, Hanari, you’re good but you’re not great. Ask yourself why is it that out of all the places we’ve been together, why is it that now it’s come to this? You and Blake in a match but not a submissions match or a brawl but a regular match with regular rules when the only ones who benefit from this match are the fans, why isn’t this match one with stipulations that may or may not favor either of you?
Simplifying things, that’s what I like to do but Blake, he wanted this fight to not just show this company and everyone exactly what he’s capable of but because it’s something to do on a Thursday night besides sit in front of the television and watch some Canadian based show with a wrestling ring that looks like they could big but they’re missing something. You know, come to think of it, that’s like you in a way. Again Hanari, you’re good but you could be bigger but you’re missing something and tonight when you and Blake step into that ring, he’s not going to just hurt you but he’s going to help you find what you’re missing. He’s going to expose that weakness not just to find just another way to beat you but to help you become what we all know you can be and what you strive to be.
So when you look back on this match, it’s not so much bringing you down to reality. If that means hurting you to do it, then that’s just what’s going to have to happen. If it means breaking bones or spilling blood to do it, then that’s part of the job so that’s just what’s going to have to happen. And don’t think of this that it’s not that you’re not respected but it’s a way of someone putting you in your place and humbling you because this isn’t the business of thinking or knowing you’re better than someone, this is the business where you have to show that you’re better each time you walk through those ropes. I can think every time that Blake and Belladonna are great and to me they are, but they have to prove it in that ring in front of the crowd who boos them or cheers them. So by all means, keep saying that you’re the best because at the end of it all, the fans will be the ones who really will label you what you are. Are you good? Well, they cheered. Are you bad? They booed me out the building, then you did your job.
Blake and Belladonna don’t care what the people think because the people came to see them, why? Not because they gloat that I’m the best this or I’m the best that, they come to see them because they’re just like them. That’s a lesson that hopefully you can take from this that you don’t need your persona. Fans see themselves in them from the don’t take any BS from anybody to what are you going to do about it? I’m going to punch you in the face is what I’m going to do about it and not stop until I see blood or break your bones. Remember, Blake asked for someone who would give him competition. If you weren't good then you wouldn’t be here. So while we may respect you, tonight is just business”.
The cameraman ends the feed.
