Family isn't everything. Sometimes your family can be your biggest fans or your biggest haters. Mine were the latter. They judged me and my life choices so hard. They didn't like that I was bisexual. They didn't like that I have multiple relationships. They didn't like me anymore. For so long, when I was good little submissive church girl they loved me. So did they love me or the vision they had of me?
I walked along the water of the beach as the sun began to set. I looked up at the full moon overhead. I smiled as I spoke matter of factly. "You know there was a time, like many others, when I was scared of the dark. A time when things that go bump in the night scared me. A time when a date in the ring with someone like Damien Callaway would have urged me to quitting this business. The difference is, I am not that little girl anymore. I am not going to duck and hide. You win some, you lose some but it's how you get back into the game. I won't give up and I won't surrender.
You see Damien, your career, much like Alex's, is defined by wins and losses. Mine is defined by just defying the odds. No one thought I could beat Moonlight Rose for the OCW Paradigm Title, but I did. No one thought I could last this long in the business but I have. I don't know what the future holds and neither do you. Your sister tried to break me and end my career at Revival. Guess what? I'm still standing. When push comes to shove neither of us will be the same after we go toe to toe. Neither of us will be on the same carpet trajectory and I am now fine with a win or a loss. Just another lesson Synn has taught me. I am grateful for every bump, every bruise, every injury. They tell a story, they tell MY story. In this business we either get up or give up. Which will you do Damien? Will you rise to the occasion or get sent to hell with your God forsaken sister? Put up or shut up, Damien."

I sat on the couch as Rosa brought me some food. I had been training nonstop and I could tell she was worried about me. She handed me a plate as I kissed her cheek slightly. I began eating a bit as she spoke to me. "Brookey, baby. I know this whole thing with you dating me and Daniel both has gotten to me a bit but right now, I'm worried about you. You have been training so hard for this title match. I'm worried you have tired yourself out too much and I worry what may happen if you lose."
I stopped mid bite, a solitary noodle hanging from my lips. I shook my head as I let the noodle fall graciously to my plate. I laughed a bit. "That's the old me babe. I am still a Rookie and still learning and I am fine, win or lose."
Sure I was fine on the Outside but inside I wanted now, more than ever, to succeed. Time was of the essence and it was time I get my life and career on track. Sure, win or lose, Damien was going to see a different Brooke than before. I opened the locket on my neck, a picture of my mother. I zoned out as I snapped back to reality as my phone rang. It was my father. I answered it. "Hello?"
My father's voice was unable to be heard as my phone dropped to the ground. Rosa looked at me and spoke. "Is everything OK baby?"
I shook my head and cried a bit. "My mother had a heart attack. She is in stable condition but in ICU at the moment."
I gripped my locket as Rosa held me tightly. My family may have been rude to me lately but I couldn't lose her.
