The day after the first show.
The first show wasn’t a success for Goth, at least he had not been able to walk out of the ring as champion. But if there is one thing that he always prided himself for was that he always managed to gear himself up for another match.
Goth walks into the bathroom, opens the shower door as he turns on the water and feel the temperature rise to how he likes it. He slowly turns around as he walks towards the bedroom and slowly takes off his shirt, feeling the tightness in the muscles of his neck as his face shows a grimace. The thought of retirement has passed his mind a few times, but he always found a reason to continue….. And one of them is Justin York.
He places his hands upon the waistband of his pyjama pants, slowly pushing them down as he steps out of them. His boxers slowly follow as he turns back towards the bathroom, slowly closes the shower door behind him as he stands underneath the shower head and feels the warm water spray all across his body. He lets out a sigh as he extends his arms against the wall of the shower room, feeling his muscles tightening. His eyes are searching for the shower gel that is in the corner of the shower room. Not wanting to reach for it as his body is screaming of agony.
“Just one more day and all will be back to normal.”
He mutters to himself as he just stands there underneath he warm water, hoping that the tension of his muscles will slowly subside in order for him to easily grab the shower gel. He stands there for five more minutes before slowly bending through his knees as he reaches over towards the shower gel, inwardly cursing towards himself as he finally manages to do so. He gets to a standing position just too fast, causing him to let out a groan of frustration. He finally starts to soap his body before washing it off underneath the spray.
He remains underneath the shower for ten more minutes, normally it wouldn’t have taken him this long. But this time he could care less about a certain time schedule as he had nothing planned for today. Melissa had gone away for the day, visiting his parents and son while he decided to stay here as he was booked for several promotions. The burden some would say for being a professional wrestler, but he never saw it that way. For him it has always been a way of life, a reason to provide for his family. A debt he once had told his mother he knew he could never repay her, thinking back of all the money he once had taken from his parents when he was a junky. A moment in his life where he was still ashamed of, but one way or the other had vowed to do whatever he could to make the life of his mother one without worry.
He slowly turns off he water, rests his back against the shower door for a few split moments as he thinks back to those days. Grinding his teeth before putting both hands in front of his face, trying to forget about all of that and yet the memories keep returning. He slowly drops to his knees as his breathing become increasingly heavier, trying to breathe through his mouth in an act of anguish.
“Dear God, how much longer do I need to suffer under this burden??”
He speaks out in a whisper, leaning his head against the shower door as the only thing that he can concentrate upon is drops of water that fall down from the shower head upon the shower floor. Within this moment there is nothing more than absolute silence, a calmness suddenly comes over him as he continues to count every single drop that falls down after another. Ultimately he nods as if it is a hidden message towards him and him alone as he slowly gets up, groaning at the strain that his body is feeling before opening the shower door as he reaches over to grab a towel.
Several moments later we see him enter the bedroom, carrying a large towel around his waist while using another one to dry his long wet hair. He grabs his cell phone that is blinking besides his pillow and notices a message from Melissa that causes him to smile.
“I love you sweetie.”
He murmurs to himself as he reads out the message out loud, he responds towards it before tossing it back upon his pillow this time and turns towards his wardrobe as he opens it. Reaching for underwear as he drops his towel and puts on a pair of boxers. He then puts one of his favourite shirts before looking at one of his baggy pants as he has planned to have a quiet day. He then receives another message, telling him that he will be facing Barney at the next show. This causes him to cringe a little.
“There goes my quiet day I guess.”
He sighs as he responds before tossing it back upon his bed, he sits down and rests both arms beside his body in order to keep him seated as his head leans backwards while letting out a sigh.
“I could have just told you all to f*** off, but then again you would have been at my doorstep the very next day.”
He sighs as he turns his head away from the camera, looking at the wedding picture of him and his wife before turning his gaze unwillingly towards the camera.
“So why don’t we get this one over with huh? Because I am pretty fucking sure that the world is dying to hear what I have got to say about losing my opportunity to walk away with a championship belt.”
He smirks and shakes his head before turning his head back towards the camera once more.
“I lost, get over it. I didn’t got the job done, yet I am the establishment that everyone out there needs to try and overcome. Because let’s face it, I make people relevant and that will not change when it comes down to my next opponent.”
He nods his head, chewing upon his lower lip as his fingers grip the bedsheets tight for a few moments before releasing its grip.
“Congrats Barney, you climb the ladder and won your match. You reached for the heavens and secured a championship match. Good job, why don’t you be a good boy and make that ladder match mean something by winning that belt. Too bad that the momentum that you are having hasn’t come to the point that you are facing the champion instead of me.”
He lifts his hands and closes them into fists, his veins are visible to be seen as the tenacity of his arms are visible for everyone to see.
“You win some, you lose some. Right now I have so much on my mind, so many conquests that I need to overcome. That facing the man they call Bareny wasn’t on the top of that list. But I gladly accept the offering that this company is willing to present to me and see how far that momentum will get you against me.”
He lifts his head, stares at the ceiling as he cocks his eyes towards the camera and shows a sickening smile.
“Momentum is such a cliché don’t you think?? You cannot grasp it, you cannot explain it. You either have it or you don’t, like being in the best shape of your life and overcome every obstacle known to man.”
“Known to man….”
He repeats the final words as he shakes his head.
“What does man know about the unknown? Tell me Barney, what do you know about the unknown? And how will you tangle with the unexplainable. Because that’s a question that has even been haunting me, a question that has clearly not been answered by anyone else. Because quite honestly, there isn’t one!!!”
“Or is there??”
He releases the tight grip upon his hands as the skin colour slowly returns amongst his hands as he continues to talk.
“Faith is the answer to every question my friend, faith upon the unexplainable become explained. Because Faith and Hope is the key to every success story, as every story has one thing in common.”
He looks into the camera and smiles.
“Every success story begins and ends with the Messiah of Pain, the man that giveth… and taketh away whenever he pleases. And for you remains the question my friend, what is next that shall please me??”
“Questions, always questions and the only answer that I can give you is that nothing in life is certain, except the fact that I plan on to cash in the receipt that everyone including you owes me….”
He smiles as he lifts his hand in front of the camera, palming the shot as there is nothing else but darkness to be seen.
“But all you have to do is wait Barney, wait for the inevitable to happen…”
With that the shot fades.
