Karli Rae was yet again in a big match situation. She had debuted in one but was on the losing end. But now she was in another, as she was part of a ten woman battle royal. But something looked different about her. Like she wasn’t dressed in her usual nerdy attire, except for her glasses.
“Well, what a ride it’s been so far. I lose a few, almost end it all. But that started a win streak and a new, more positive me. Gone is my emo side, and in its place, is my true, happy side. Karli Rae is always going to look on the bright side of everything. Let’s start with the way it all started.
She was missing her braces as they had just come off a few days prior to this promo being shot, but that wasn’t all. She was sporting a University of Texas cheerleading outfit that she wore for four years while there. Not only being a letter winner in cheerleading, but also gymnastics and track and field. A three sport athlete and it showed in the ring.
“It started rocky, with me losing my shot at a title. I took that loss to heart and it led to another loss, which almost cost me my life, as I attempted to hang myself, before Jenny Kay and Britlyn Baker stopped it. I owe everything to them. They’re, in so many ways, why I am still here. But enough of the negative!”
Karli’s glasses were also not as thick, as she had gone to the eye doctor and gotten more fashionable glasses. So now, the blonde was looking better than she ever did. But she wasn’t about looks. She was about competition and staying positive. She had the talent to go far in this business and she was about showing up and showing out every time she was in any ring, not just EPW’s.
“That brought rise to what you see before you! The Princess of Positivity! EPW’s Rae of Sunshine! Me, Karli Rae! And I’m here to teach the value of positivity! So here goes! I’m not only part of this match, but I’m gonna win it, not just because I’m on a win streak, but because i NEED to win this match.”
She loved being in front of a crowd. The crowd’s positive energy was hers as well. She did everything she did for them and wanted them to go home happy. But this match type didn’t really favor her. She needed to figure out a way to stay away from the ropes, springboard and top rope or risk being eliminated and losing another title opportunity.
“I’ve heard all the negativity. People saying I’m too new to be in this situation. I’m too green, or whatever they want to say. But I’m gonna spin that into a positive. It’s not that I’m new or green.”
Karli was a much happier person now that she had ditched the emo side. She had it under control. The near death moment for her really woke her up and got her focused on what really mattered. Her life and career. She was doing something she loved and was going to continue to do so, until the day she could not anymore.
“Because in the ring is where I gain the experience I need to have a fantastic in ring career, just like I did in college, and actually, I was a pro cheerleader too, working two years for the Houston Texans, before joining the world of wrestling and that is my new passion.”
But she would be damned if that happed. Karli Rae Gomez was not about losing matches. She had her fill of that on the indies and in her debut. She wanted to remain unbeaten as long as she could. She wanted to show people that even though she was on the shorter side, her heart would carry her through each match. Her heart would be on her sleeve for every match she was in. But there was one motivator, one much more emotional.
“People in this ring have been here longer than me, I know this. But it doesn’t bother me and it won’t get me down. Neither will a loss if it happens, but I know it won’t. I have skills no one in this ring does. So in the end, it will be me going on to face Alexandra Calaway. But let’s focus on the now. A battle royal doesn’t really suit someone like me, who likes to fly around the ring. I need to stay away from the ropes or top rope. It’ll be a challenge, but i love a good challenge. I can do it!”
That was her mother, who passed away a few weeks ago, and Karli, while still shaken, was going to do all this for her. Her mom was her driving force. Her mom was her strength and now Karli would need to channel that but her family was also her motivation. Her sisters, Starlee and Eliana were her motivation, as was her girlfriend. She did everything for them and would continue to do so as long as she could.
“See, everyone here needs a dose of my own positive vibes. And I’m here to spread them as much as humanly possible. I may have started off negative but I’ve managed to turn it around and all of you can too! Everyone in the back and everyone in the crowd can turn negative into positive. Why is that? Because I, Karli Rae, believe in you! All of you! Good luck to everyone! I can’t wait to get in that ring with all of you!”
And with that, Karli would back flip off the set. As the cameras fade, she comes back into frame, giving a smile, one more time, as she cartwheeled off into the distance, showing her agility, which she had in spades. She had been through a lot lately, but was about to have another shot at getting noticed in EPW. But first, she had to win a battle royal, which she was confident she could win. Like her, her own confidence had been on the rise lately, and was shooting through the roof.
